Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Goutipedia processes when you use the Site, and why. Goutipedia is an educational encyclopedia; please do not send us personal health details.

What we process

We process limited technical and contribution data needed to run the encyclopedia:

  • Food and drink catalog content that we publish on the Site.
  • Guest suggestions (such as a proposed item name) and guest feedback about existing entries.
  • A hashed IP address associated with research or feedback activity, used for rate limiting and abuse prevention — not to identify you by name.
  • Basic operational logs and security signals (including bot-protection checks) needed to keep the service available and safe.
  • Theme preference stored locally in your browser (for example light/dark mode); this stays on your device.

What we ask you not to submit

Do not include personal health information, medical records, diagnoses, lab results, medication lists, or other sensitive personal data in suggestions or feedback.

If you still submit such information, we may delete it when we become aware of it, but you remain responsible for not sharing it in the first place.

How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the catalog and Site features.
  • Research, translate, or review suggested items and feedback (including with AI providers).
  • Enforce rate limits, prevent spam and abuse, and protect the service.
  • Respond to removal or legal requests where appropriate.

AI providers

To research items, review feedback, or translate content, we may send relevant prompts and text to AI providers (currently including xAI). Those providers process that content to return results for the Site.

Avoid putting names, contact details, or health history into suggestion or feedback fields. Treat those fields as public contribution channels, not private medical messaging.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data with infrastructure and AI processors that help us run the Site, and we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the Site, its users, or others from harm or abuse.

Retention

Published catalog content is retained while the Site operates. Guest suggestions, feedback, and rate-limiting records are kept as long as needed for operations, moderation, and abuse prevention, then deleted or anonymized when no longer needed.

Your choices and requests

Because the Site is guest-based, we may not be able to identify “your” submissions without additional information you provide. If you want guest-submitted text removed from our systems where feasible, email goutipedia@vblinden.dev and describe the submission (what you wrote, roughly when, and which item it related to).

You can clear local theme preference by clearing site data in your browser.

Children

The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Gout-related health decisions for minors should be made with a qualified clinician and caregiver — not based on this Site alone.

International processing

The Site and its processors may operate in different countries. By using the Site, you understand that information may be processed outside your own country, subject to applicable safeguards and law.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the revised policy.

Contact

For privacy questions or removal requests related to guest submissions, email goutipedia@vblinden.dev. Again: do not send medical advice requests or sensitive health details through those channels.
