Strawberry

100% strawberry juice is a nuanced choice for gout. On the positive side, strawberries are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants (anthocyanins), which may help lower serum uric acid and reduce inflammation — a benefit shared by many berries. Strawberries themselves are a low-purine fruit (typically <50 mg purines per 100 g). However, 100% fruit juice concentrates the natural sugars, especially fructose, which can raise uric acid production in the liver. Even 100% juice with no added sugar inherently contains enough fructose to be a concern in large amounts. Many commercial 100% strawberry juice products also include apple or grape juice (both high in fructose) as a base, further increasing the fructose load. For these reasons, it's best consumed in small portions (e.g., 4 oz / 120 ml) rather than as a daily or large beverage. Whole strawberries are a better choice because they provide the same vitamin C and antioxidants without the concentrated fructose.
