Schweppes Zero Citrussmaken

Schweppes Zero Citrussmaken is a carbonated soft drink flavored with natural extracts and aromas from orange, grapefruit, lime, and mandarin. It uses acesulfame K and sucralose instead of sugar, resulting in only 2–2.3 kcal and 0.3 g carbohydrates (including 0.3 g sugars) per 100 ml, with no fat or protein.[2] This makes it effectively a zero-calorie beverage without added fructose or high-fructose corn syrup that could elevate uric acid levels.

For people managing gout, the absence of purine-rich ingredients such as yeast extracts, organ meats, or shellfish is beneficial, as the primary components are carbonated water, citric acid, citrus extracts, and stabilizers.[1] Citric acid, a key ingredient, can help increase urinary citrate and may support a more alkaline urine pH, potentially reducing the risk of uric acid kidney stones that often accompany gout.

A typical serving is a 330 ml can, delivering about 7–8 kcal and under 1 g of sugars.[2] This product can serve as a flavorful alternative to plain water for staying hydrated, which is essential for diluting uric acid in the blood and urine. Consume in moderation as part of a varied diet; excessive intake of artificially sweetened drinks is generally unnecessary and some individuals report digestive discomfort from carbonation or sweeteners.

Preparation is straightforward—simply chill and serve over ice. It pairs well with meals but should not replace water as your main beverage. Regional labels may vary slightly in additives like colorants, yet the core zero-sugar, low-purine profile remains consistent across Dutch and Belgian formulations.[3]
